Dojo introduction

~About our dojo ~
Shinbukan Dojo was established in 1971 by Eisuke Akamine Sensei as a dojo for Ryukyu Kobudo and Okinawa Karate-do.
After Eisuke Akamine passed away in 1999, his son, Hiroshi Akamine, has succeeded him as the dojo's director.
Shinbukan Dojo teaches traditional Okinawan Kobayashi Ryu Karate and Ryukyu Kobudo. Karate is offered in both youth and general divisions.
In kobudo, Shinbukan teaches the typical bo techniques as well as kata of Sai, Nunchaku, Tunfa, Tekko, Kama, Tinbei, and Eku.

~Karate Class~
This is a Shōrin-ryū karate dōjō. We mainly teach traditional and practical techniques and kata, and we also teach how to completely relax the body and to strain the abdomen to instantly exert power.

~Kobudō Class~
We inherited and preserve 8 types of weapons techniques including bojutsu and saijutsu with more than 20 types of kata. We teach a wide range of people from beginners to experienced.

~Group Training~
We also accept group training. Please contact us in advance if you are interested.

~Supported Languages~
In addition to Japanese, we are also able to assist in English, Spanish, and Chinese.
