Dojo introduction
Thank you for visiting the Miyagi Juku Goju-ryu Karate Dojo page.
My name is Toshiya Miyagi, and I am the head instructor.
I was inspired by Bruce Lee during my elementary school years and began practicing competitive karate through my high school karate club. I continued competing in karate at university, and after graduating, I worked as a high school teacher while also participating in competitions. After retiring from competition, I focused on coaching high school karate club activities.
At the age of 54, I began studying traditional Okinawan Goju-ryu Karate in earnest.
After retiring from teaching, I opened this dojo in April 2025. As of December 2025, I am teaching 10 elementary school students and 6 adult students, offering instruction in both Okinawan Goju-ryu Karate and competitive karate.
We are currently welcoming foreign visitors who are interested in experiencing karate training.

| Parking remarks | There is no parking available. The dojo is a 1-minute walk from Naha City Hospital Monorail Station. Look for the izakaya “Amaika” next to Matsushima Elementary School—the dojo is located on the second floor. |
